Currently the V8 Supercars series runs three types of race weekends in their schedule:
1) Super Sprint-
two short sprint races of 100km lasting about 35-45 minutes each on Saturdays, followed by a longer race of 200km on Sundays.
2) Super Street-
two races lasting 125km on Saturdays, followed by a 250km race on Sundays.
3) Endurance-
one 500km race (Sandown) or one 1000km race (Bathurst) on Sunday, or two 300km races on Sat & Sun (Surfer's Paradise)
My aim with this series is to replicate as much as we can with how they run the real series, but we can't do two-day weekends on-line, so these are the two formats I'm proposing:
Sprint- Two 30-minute races, one with the grid as qualified, and the second race will be reverse grid based on qualifying order for the first (no sandbagging to get a good starting position for the 2nd race with this format)
Enduro- either a 1-hour race, or a two-hour race.
Tentative Schedule:
1) Long Beach - Sprint
2) Hockenheim - Sprint
3) Daytona (Bike layout) - Sprint
4) Monza - Enduro
5) Le Mans (Bugatti) - Sprint
6) Rio de Janeiro - Sprint
7) Road America - Sprint
8) Bathurst - Enduro
9) Watkins Glen - Sprint
10) Spa - Sprint
no ovals, these are not US stock cars
We're going to discuss the possibility of running this series with as few assists as possible, with at least ABS/STM & TCS forced off.
The schedule can be shifted around and is up for discussion as well, the target start date is October 3rd.
I would like to hear what all of the Dev team and the staff thinks.
