Hello all. I'm looking to do a special Le Mans event on the weekend before the Le Mans 24 Hours to try and get people hyped for the real event. The race will take place on the 12th June and will run from 12 BST to 18 BST and be comprised of three stints. The format of the series will closely follow that of the VEC. However for any who aren't aware of how the VEC works the lobbies are 1 hour 45 mins and drivers race for 1 hour 30. When the timer reaches 15 minutes remaining everyone is to get on the breaks and come to a stop. The race leader calls out their distance travelled and everyone after then calls out their distance to first. Once that has been done the leader will travel to the next mile marker calling it out and then second will call out their new distance to first. From there it is calculated how far each car would have travelled in the remaining 3o mins and that is then taken as each cars distance travelled for each lobby. The only difference this race will have is with regards to the start. As a precaution in case there are more then one lobbies the lobby leader will aim to cross the line with an 1 hour 40 remaining as Le Mans is a big track and any advantage from start times could result in a sizable distance advantage. The race would then finish with 10 minutes remaining so each driver get an hour 30 race time.

The cars for this event will be the late 90's early 00's Le Mans cars and they are as follows
- 2004 Audi R8
- 2003 Bentley Speed 8
- 1999 BMW V12 LMR
- 1998 Ferrari F333 SP
- 1999 Toyota GT-One TS020

Cars will also be split into two categories, LMP1 for the open cockpits and LMGTP for the closed cockpits. Both classes will be able to win overall and both classes will have a class winner although one of these will be the overall winner. For the overall victory I am looking to set up a prize and in addition I'm also looking to do a random draw for those who finish within the top 5 or 10 in their class (depending on the number of entries) to be eligible to win a prize.

I will be making special allowences for those who would like to try and complete the event solo however they won't be eligible for any of the prizes and if a solo driver wins overall then the prize will be handed to second overall. To add to this is it is a solo driver that is holding up the lobby they will not be waited upon and will be given last place in the lobbies distance minus 1 mile.

We also will not be using the TURN numbers as this is a community event however teams will be able to pick a number between 4-99 on a first come first serve basis.

I am aware that there is the TORA Le Mans 24 Hour race happening on this particular weekend and the TURN Classic IMSA. The racing is due to finish prior to the Classic IMSA and the TORA 24 will finish at 2pm BST so it will only be the first stint missed for those participating. For anyone wishing to participate in this and the TORA 24 a system will be worked out so that those who miss the first stint will get a distance so as to not be hundreds of miles back and still have a chance at competing.

If you are interested feel free to leave a comment likewise if you have any question and hopefully a thread will be set up for this soon
