Location: Long Beach Grand Prix Qualifying: October 18th 2:00pm EST / 7:00pm BST Race: October 18th 3:00pm EST / 8:00pm BST Race 1 Laps: 15 Race 2 Laps: 33
75% rule takes place in this race. For race 1, 11 laps must be completed to get points in the race lobby you qualified for. For race 2, 24 laps must be completed to get points in the race lobby you qualified for.
Qualifying
Qualifying lobbies will open at 1:30pm where all drivers will get an invite from their room host. Qualifying will start at 2:00pm. Qualifying will last for 20 minutes.
Race
Race lobbies will begin once qualifying results and rooms are sorted. This may take up to 15 minutes. Please be patient, your host will invite you. Race 1 is ordered based on qualifying, race 2 is ordered by driver standing in the season (prior to the race weekend starting-- so not counting the results of race 1), lowest to highest points.
Across the board, I'd like to reinforce our stance that driving ethics and mutual respect should be exercised in every race.
While our stewards have some specific incidents to review, I will remind everyone, especially those in our top lobby to strive to not do the following things:
1] Corner cutting - You guys are fast enough that this shouldn't be necessary. This wasn't as horrific as we feared, but it still happened here and there, and we'd like to think that we can all accept the track limits.
2] Dive bomb passes - There is out-braking your opponent, and then there's dive bomb passing that completely disrespects the other driver's attempts to drive cleanly. This also led to more contact than was necessary. Due to the communication problems, calling out a pass isn't always possible, so please choose your overtakes wisely.
3] Returning to the track after an off - There were a few instances of drivers being pushed off track or running off track themselves, then rejoining the track at full speed, without concern for approaching cars that are already on track.
4] Passing in single file areas - Not saying that they can't be done, but there were quite a few very sloppy passes in the chicane. Long Beach is less technical than COTA west, but it does have a few choke points that are clearly single file. Plan your overtake at Long Beach, and be wise enough not to cause a log jam at the fountain or at the final hairpin, turn 11. If you can't get around a driver cleanly at all the other corners, chances are you're not going to get around them cleanly in the tightest sections of the track.
5] Blocking - Wide, defensive lines into and out of corners are more than ok to defend your position from approaching competition, but squeezing on a straight, or moving over on a straight as a reaction to a pass maneuver is poor form. We do not regulate "1 move" rules, but I stand behind a "no move" rule in my own driving. If the driver behind is faster and got a pass worked out down a straight, moving over to block is taking a huge risk that there will be contact. If you are indeed faster than the driver behind, you'll catch them later in the race. If not, that driver deserved the position. Again, defensive lines into and out of corners is fair game and can add to the excitement, no one is going to fault you for moving to the inside to close the door on an out-braking maneuver. Blocking on a straight, however, isn't in line with the caliber of racing we'd like to see here at TURN.
I have a question regarding turn one entry, what is the ruling on using pit exit to take a wider entry into turn one. I know it's probably much harder to regulate in comparison to other areas of the game but i just wanted to know where TURN standed on the situation
After poating the message above i realised the second right after the fountain turn may be another area of "cutting". Where does TURN stand on taking a tighter line through what i want to say is turn 4 or the second right after the fountain. Are we as racers allowed to take a tighter line and driver through where the cones are or are we to stay away from those twinkies/bananas/sleeping policemen etc etc?
It is almost impossible for anyone to get through that fountain clean when competing with another driver. Recommending best behavior is a little lenient. Lol.
