MSM: Pcars Formula Gulf 1000 Series (round 1)

After two informal meet-ups, we completed our first Project CARS club race on May 30th!. It was the inaugural race in our five-round Formula Gulf series. Drivers started practice under the blistering sun of Dubai at 4PM, followed by a 15 minute qualifying session. Out of 12 drivers, the newest member rHodgey took pole. The rolling start surprisingly went off without a hitch. Thank goodness, since there are no restarts, right? Hodgey took off like a bat out of hell, with Dominic Mako trailing far behind and Darkside (aka Bobbo) holding off a train in third.

Things were stagnant as the sun slowly went down, and then from out of nowhere SURPRISE RAIN MFERS! Having set the third weather slot to random proved to be a real game-changer. Dominic Mako goofed his pit strategy and exited on slick tires, falling to 4th as a result of a second stop for wet tires. Bobbo quickly ate into Hodgey's lead, eventually passing for first. As the hard rain finally started to ease a little, Hodgey pulled close and completed a pass on the final turn of the final lap, securing the victory.

The final podium for the FG1000 Dubai GP was 1. rHodgey 2. itzz Darkside 3. PWNzillaBH

I predictably forgot that this was happening (after showing up a week early, no less).
