A functioning microphone is one of the requirements of being able to race at TURN, and must be used to avoid incidents such as this from happening.
A lot of times people are oblivious to the fact they are being passed.
Daytona Dreams wrote:Just a quick question in regards to a point raised in a stewards enquiry. It says that a driver didnt call out a pass over the mic, i these days have the mic muted, three dogs, two kids, one at six months old and my magic power machine which keeps my body working, means i dont live in a quiet house, i also mute alot of game chatter as people chat during the races, it might not be a lot, or often, but it does happen, like it should, afterall its a game and people like to talk about the racing, during the racing, i choose not to and mute them.
So basically, im not going to be calling out a pass ever, why should i give the person im trying to overtake the advantage of knowing where i am, thus able to defend or block, although granted i dont do much overtaking these days, not that you would hear much in many cases, the only chat these days is apologies if i make a mistake, but thats just good manners if im in the wrong and this may also be sent by a pm after the race if im unable to apologize at the time due to the noise levels.
So am i now in the wrong here that i choose not to announce a pass? I know oval racing has spotters and with good reasons that are fairly obvious, but doesnt passing come under racecraft on a racetrack, working over the opposition into a mistake to get past, in the same way defending your position is racecraft.
I should point out, i havent looked at the incident in which the punishment has been dealt, just surprised by the comment of a steward sayingA functioning microphone is one of the requirements of being able to race at TURN, and must be used to avoid incidents such as this from happening.
Alos if this is the case, does this mic rule count for community races held on TURN or just official events?
